The Bahamas Football Association: Shaping the Future of Bahamian Football

About the BFA

Since its founding in 1967, the Bahamas Football Association (BFA) has been dedicated to the growth and development of football across the islands. As a member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), the BFA provides athletes with access to training, competitive platforms, and the opportunity to represent their nation on both local and global stages.

Our mission goes beyond creating opportunities to play. We intentionally use the sport to build character, leadership, and a sense of responsibility, nurturing national leaders and active, contributing citizens. Football, for us, is not just a game—it’s a powerful tool for personal and community growth.

Over Five Decades of Football Excellence in The Bahamas

In 1967, a small group of football enthusiasts came together with a shared vision: to establish and grow the sport of football in The Bahamas. A year later, the Bahamas Football Association (BFA) gained international recognition by affiliating with FIFA, marking the beginning of its journey on the world stage. This was followed by joining CONCACAF in 1981 and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) in 1999.

Since then, the BFA has evolved from a grassroots organization into a national body responsible for developing and managing football across the islands. Over the decades, our programs have been instrumental in shaping future football stars and inspiring the next generation of players, coaches, and volunteers.

Through our partnerships with global entities like FIFA and regional bodies like CONCACAF, the BFA has been committed to bringing invaluable resources, opportunities, and infrastructure to Bahamian communities.

Our history is marked by progress, but we’re far from finished. With initiatives like the expansion of women’s football and a commitment to building more playing facilities, the BFA continues to pave the way for the future of Bahamian football.

Join us as we look back at how far we’ve come and continue our journey toward building a stronger football culture for The Bahamas.
