IL Cares Summer Soccer Saturdays Keeps Young Players Active During the Offseason

The Bahamas Football Association (BFA), with the support of title sponsor IL Cares Foundation, successfully concluded the IL Cares Summer Soccer Saturdays: World Cup Edition, held from June 27 to August 1, 2026, at the Roscow A.L. Davies Fields.

The six-week programme gave young players an opportunity to continue playing football during the summer offseason in a fun, relaxed environment centred on participation and player development.

Sessions placed a strong emphasis on free play with minimal coaching instruction, allowing players to make their own decisions, solve problems on the field and develop a better understanding of the game through experience. This style of play is an important part of developing confident and creative footballers.

The World Cup theme added another element of excitement throughout the programme. Participants represented their favourite national teams and took on the names of some of their favourite World Cup players while competing in games and activities.

Most importantly, Summer Soccer Saturdays kept young players engaged with the sport while giving them an opportunity to learn, play, compete and enjoy football throughout the summer.

The BFA extends its appreciation to IL Cares Foundation for its support of the programme and its continued investment in opportunities for young footballers in The Bahamas.

The Association looks forward to building on the programme in the future and continuing its partnership with IL Cares Foundation.
