Nassau, Bahamas – The Bahamas Football Association (BFA), in partnership with the Ministry of Education & Technical & Vocational Training (MOETVT), is excited to announce the new dates for the Samuel P. Haven Jr. High School Soccer Nationals 2024, running from May 17th to May 31st. This year’s event promises to bring together the nation’s emerging soccer stars from high schools across the archipelago, including the defending champions, the Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) Dragons in the boys’ division and the CR Walker Knights in the girls’ division, setting the stage for an electrifying tournament.
The action kicks off in Freeport, Grand Bahama, with the Northern Division Championships from May 17th to May 19th, followed by the New Providence Preliminary Round in Nassau on May 22nd and 23rd, leading up to the Semi-Finals and Finals in Nassau on May 30th and 31st, respectively, at the BFA’s Soccer Complex.
This year’s competition introduces a thrilling qualifier in Abaco, where two teams compete to advance. The winner from Abaco will travel to Grand Bahama for the Northern Division Championship, competing alongside teams from Grand Bahama and Eleuthera. This setup showcases the soccer talent across the Family Islands, highlighting young athletes ready to demonstrate their skills in a broader arena.
Carl Lynch, BFA Deputy General Secretary and Tournament Coordinator, shared his thoughts: “We are witnessing a monumental year for youth soccer in The Bahamas. The talent and enthusiasm we see coming from these young players not only promise great matches but also signify the bright future of soccer in our nation. More importantly, it offers them a platform to pursue academic scholarships and further education through sports, highlighting the integral role of soccer in shaping their futures.”

Reflecting on the remarkable achievements from the previous year, Michael Massey (LCIS Dragons) and Edisa Bain (BMES Warriors) were celebrated as MVPs, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication among our young athletes. The Golden Glove awards went to Vance Wheaton (LCIS Dragons) and Raynia Russel (CR Walker Knights), while the Golden Boot was claimed by Peter Tilusnord (GHS Magic) and Edisa Bain (BMES Warriors), highlighting the exceptional skill and sportsmanship that define this tournament.
The Samuel P. Haven Jr. High School Soccer Nationals remains a key event in The Bahamas’ youth soccer calendar, demonstrating the skill, passion, and sportsmanship of the nation’s young athletes.
