Nassau, Bahamas – The Bahamas Football Association (BFA) recently hosted two esteemed FIFA representatives for a productive visit focused on advancing football development in The Bahamas.
Leonard “Lenny” Lake, FIFA Technical Consultant for the Caribbean Region, conducted a comprehensive visit from November 25 to November 30. His schedule included overseeing the Talent Development Program, observing club training sessions, and supervising the C-License coaching assessments held from November 26 to November 29. A total of 14 candidates participated in the assessments, including two coaches assessed during his visit to Eleuthera. These efforts reflect FIFA’s dedication to enhancing coaching standards in The Bahamas and promoting sustainable growth in football.
Joining Mr. Lake was Daniel Garcia, FIFA Talent Development Scheme Representative, who evaluated The Bahamas’ football environment as part of FIFA’s Talent Coach Program. The initiative involves placing a specialized talent coach with a UEFA A License or higher in The Bahamas for a two-year period. During his visit, Mr. Garcia engaged with the BFA’s Technical and Administrative Departments and the BFA Talent Development Center. His observations will inform FIFA’s continued support for the country’s football programs.
Both representatives commended the BFA for its work in advancing football, particularly through its grassroots and talent identification programs.
Technical Director Bruce Swan expressed his gratitude for the visit and the insights provided by the FIFA officials. “Mr. Lake and Mr. Garcia’s contributions reinforce our ongoing efforts to raise the standard of football in The Bahamas. Their expertise will guide us as we develop more opportunities for players and coaches to grow and succeed,” said Swan.
The BFA remains dedicated to creating a strong foundation for football, with support from FIFA and other partners driving progress across all levels of the sport.
