BFA President Anya James has been named Chairperson of the FIFA Youth Girls’ Competitions Committee, which oversees the development, structure, and delivery of international girls’ youth tournaments, including the FIFA U-17 and U-20 Women’s World Cups.
BFA General Secretary Frederick Lunn has been appointed to the FIFA Beach Soccer Committee, which is responsible for advancing the growth of beach soccer worldwide, guiding competition standards, and enhancing the discipline’s visibility and development.
Immediate Past President Anton Sealey joins the FIFA Football Social Responsibility Committee, a global body dedicated to ensuring football serves as a positive force for inclusion, equality, and community impact across all member associations.
These appointments reflect The Bahamas’ growing influence in international football governance and highlight the BFA’s continued commitment to advancing the sport at every level.
“This recognition from FIFA reinforces the important role that Bahamian football plays within the global football family,” said BFA President Anya James. “It’s an honor to represent our nation in spaces where decisions are made that shape the future of the game and create more opportunities for youth, women, and communities around the world.”
The FIFA Standing Committees play a central role in supporting the FIFA Council’s strategic oversight and decision-making functions. According to FIFA statutes, the committees “advise and assist the Council and the general secretariat in fulfilling their duties,” covering key areas such as competitions, development, governance, and social responsibility.
Through these appointments, the BFA strengthens its presence in global football leadership and reaffirms its commitment to building bridges between local development and international collaboration.
