Bradenton, Florida: The Bahamas Football Associations Under 17 Boys kicked off their 2022 CONCACAF U17 Qualifiers with a big 2-1 victory over Dutch territory St. Martin. After St. Martin took the initial lead in the first half, the Bahamas’ Reuben Edgecombe clawed the squad back into the match with a 25 yard rocket which caught the keeper off his line.
Kai Perez got the game winner off a rebound from a long free kick by captain William Gardiner to go up 2-1. The defense continued to frustrate the St. Martin squad as they could not break the Bahamas squad down. Timely save by Bahamian Goalkeeper Ahmaad Smith, allowed the Bahamas to walk off with the victory in the rainy conditions.
The squad led by head coach Nesly Jean and coaches Kevin Davies and Avery Kemp along side Technical Director Bruce Swan now begin preparations for their next match on Thursday against powerhouse Guyana at 11.00am.
